&noscript=1 /> Travertine Backsplash: Why Natural Stone is Timeless

If you didn’t catch our last blog on our 2018 trip to Coverings, we gave a recap of upcoming tile trends and heard from designers and dealers about what they wanted to see more of in the interior design world.  One thing that stood out to us was the interest in seeing more designs on beige natural stones like light travertine and limestone.  A white marble is of course gorgeous and looks great in a modern farmhouse kitchen or contemporary space, but we think a travertine backsplash is truly timeless.  To prove our point, we put together some of our favorite backsplashes and projects that have used creamy natural stone.

Spanish Revival

LA based designer Paul Heintz created this rustic, Spanish-style kitchen in Pasadena, CA using our classic Altalena pattern on a light travertine.

Spanish Contemporary

Let’s move on to a kitchen that perfectly blends a taupe, creamy stone with white walls and cabinets.  Charmean Neithart designed this Spanish-style kitchen a few years ago but the freshness still rings true.  This is the perfect way to blend together light colors with travertine tiles.

French Provincial

This New Jersey Kitchen is the definition of French Provincial.  We think this look will always remain timeless and relevant in the interior design world.  Despite this kitchen being designed in 2008, the backsplash and kitchen cabinetry still leave us stunned.

Modern Farmhouse

This kitchen is the perfect example of how you can create a “Modern Farmhouse” look while using an ivory-toned stone.  J.S. Brown Co designed this kitchen using a mix of beige tiles and limestone to create a space that felt modern and rustic at the same time.

Traditional Texas Kitchen with a Twist

Ventura Homes in Texas created a space that combines traditional design with a hint of contemporary flare .  The Lillian pattern is featured on a rich honed durango which adds the classic element to the kitchen, while the funky light fixtures give the space a modern edge.

Classic Beach Home

If you needed more convincing of the timelessness of the Altalena pattern on a natural stone, check out this travertine backsplash by Echelon Custom Homes in Rehobeth Beach, DE.  This design is from 2008 and still remains flawless.

We know, we know, we know…we all love a white kitchen!  But we also love the use of neutral natural stones like a light travertine and limestone.  As you can see from the installs we showed you today, designs on a travertine tile remain relevant and stylish years later.
