The Best of 2021: Top 10 Tile Installations

1. French-Inspired Fixer Upper

Back in the spring, the Mullholland tile pattern from our quick-ship program was featured in Episode 3 of the popular HGTV show, Fixer Upper: Welcome Home. For this French-inspired kitchen backsplash, Joanna Gaines’ client selected this pattern tile in the Cypress colorway on honed Carrara. We were thrilled to see this pattern featured because it has a unique history—this collection was derived from a painting by our founder, Melinda Earl. Look closely at the installation below and you can see texturized paint strokes in the tile design.

2. Traditional Kitchen with a Modern Twist

We would be remiss if we did not include this next tile installation! MMO Designs created this updated take on a traditional kitchen with the help of the Evolve tile from our Artisan Stone Tile program. She combined classic, neutral tones with our contemporary, patterned tile and fun gold accents to elevate this conventional space. This kitchen design features the Evolve pattern in the Oyster colorway on 12×12 honed Carrara.

3. Modern Moroccan Master Bath

If there’s one thing we love—it’s a bold and beautiful bathroom, like this design from Ironwood Studio Co. We love how the designer utilized our vibrant Morocco tile to create dimension and visual interest in this interior. Combined with neutral cabinetry and subdued fixtures, this patterned vanity wall enlivens this bathroom without overwhelming it. Here, our Morocco tile is seen in the Sea colorway on our 12×12 honed Carrara.

4. Midwest Modern Farmhouse

The Ventana tile from our quick-ship tile program is a fan-favorite for a reason. It’s a versatile tile design that blends seamlessly into a variety of different home designs! And, this modern farmhouse kitchen below, designed by Sita Montgomery Interiors, perfectly encapsulates the versatility of the Ventana pattern. Pairing a sophisticated patterned tile kitchen backsplash with high-end appliances and open shelving gives this farmhouse-inspired space form and function.

5. Custom Contemporary Kitchen Backsplash

We love custom tile projects! Last year, Morgan Harrison Home transformed this Connecticut kitchen with the help of a one-of-a-kind, custom color Mossalli tile from our quick-ship program. For this design, Morgan Harrison’s client added bold and vibrant shades of blue to the Mossalli tile to make it the focal point of her revamped kitchen. The result? A kitchen backsplash that pops with personality.

6. California Modern Master Bathroom

Our next tile installation takes us to West Los Angeles! DMAR Interiors reimagined the master bathroom of this Los Angeles space by combining classic, California modern style with Mediterranean elements. The design team used our contemporary D’Orsay tile to add subtle movement and interest to this more minimalist space. Here, the D’Orsay tile, from our Made to Order tile collection, is featured in the Melanite colorway on Silver Luster Limestone.

7. California Coastal Kitchen

When you think of California Coastal design, you probably first imagine palettes of soft greys and blues. But, California Coastal design goes beyond ocean-themed hues! This Southern California kitchen remodel by Tamara Renee Designs exemplifies how you can achieve a beach look with a different approach. Here, the designer combined organic-inspired cabinetry and accessories with our modern, geometric Avery tile to create a unique take on quintessential coastal design.

8. Modern Moroccan Meets Traditional Kitchen

After reflecting on the projects of the past year, we think we can sense a common theme: mixing and matching design style is all the rage! Kitchen Cove Design Co. combined traditional and modern elements to create this Moroccan-inspired kitchen you see below! The design team selected our Mossalli tile in the colorway Gold as the kitchen backsplash to augment the Moroccan influence in the space.

9. Classic California Kitchen

Who doesn’t love a classic, Califonia-inspired home? This kitchen, designed by Cabana Rehab Interiors, exhibits the best of paired-back, California style. Here, the design team opted for our timeless Ventana tile to create a backsplash that matches the simple sophistication of the space. Cabana Rehab Interiors focused on incorporating organic materials, clean lines, neutral hues, and pops of gold to complement the refined elegance of the Ventana tile backsplash and the entire kitchen design.

10. Charming Coastal Master Bathroom

Last, but certainly not least, we have our final favorite tile installation of 2021. To round out our roster of installations, we have this master bathroom redesign by designer Katie Rosenfeld. Rosenfeld selected the Paige pattern tile from our Made to Order tile collection to give her client a distinctive shower accent wall. We hope to see more shower walls with this level of style in 2022!
