&noscript=1 /> Fireplaces for Fall: Tile Ideas - StoneImpressions

All it takes is one week of crisp air and rainy weather in Southern California to get us excited for the Fall season!  Before we can get too sad about saying goodbye to warm summer days, we remember that cold weather means plenty of nights in front of the fireplace.  The fireplace is a spot in the home that can be easily overlooked when it comes to design, but we think this is where you can really get bold and creative.  Today on the blog, we are going to show you different ways you can utilize decorative tile on your fireplace-and did we mention it’s a fairly easy, budget-friendly project?

1. A Blend of Design Elements

This recently completed renovation by Caitlin Jones Interior Design is a major source of inspiration for our Instagram and Pinterest followers as it has been saved hundreds of times!  She effortlessly blends textures, design styles and colors to create this anything but average living room space.  Our favorite design combo in this living space:  the modern Waterways fireplace tile with the earthy boho furniture.

Below is another example of how to effortlessly mix and match textures and patterns from different design styles.  Design firm Shuman Mabe Interiors took 4 different design elements ranging from modern brass hardware to coastal driftwood and blended them together to create this completely unique space.  Our favorite combo: the natural Driftwood mantel and traditional Regent Tile on the fireplace.

2. Small-Scale Transformations

While we love a bold look and statement wall, we do appreciate the art of simplicity.  We always recommend using decorative tile as accent pieces for clients who love neutrality and just a touch of boldness.  The living room below shows how to add a small amount of patterned tiles while remaining simplistic and clean.

3. Modern Joy

There is something about a patterned tile with strong, clean geometric lines that makes us jump for joy.  Many homeowners might think they can only utilize modern tile in an entirely contemporary home, but this is not the case.  We have seen plenty of clients add a modern or geometric tile to smaller spaces like the stairs or a fireplace to combine design styles.  In the fireplace below, these homeowners combined a modern tile with boho-style furnishings and flooring.

4. Outdoor Love

If you’re lucky enough to live in a home that also has an outdoor patio, then we definitely think you should be adding some fun, patterned tile out there.  The outdoor fireplace is where you can go really bold and use that wild decorative tile you’ve had bookmarked for months.  Below is a Southern California covered patio that uses an eye-catching modern tile to border the fireplace.

5. Story Time

Sometimes it’s easy to quickly pick a tile that your instantly drawn to, but what we really is when there is meaning behind a pattern being chosen.  Designer Laura Abrams worked closely with her clients to make sure every part of their living room had meaning behind it.  The clients complimented their rare collectibles in the shelving unit with the rustic and timeless Ventana tile to keep the feel space feeling old-world.
